Hasina raised these issues with outgoing Myanmar Ambassador to Bangladesh Myo Myint Than at the Prime Minister’s Office in Dhaka on Tuesday.
The prime minister highlighted the social and environmental impact of the refugees, Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Ehsanul Karim told the media.
“They survive in very inhumane conditions. Please convey to your government that both sides should work together to find a solution to this issue.”
“We wish to resolve any problems with our neighbouring countries through dialogue,” he said, quoting the prime minister.
The prime minister also called for the return of refugees who had fled to India after the signing of the Chittagong hill tract peace agreement.
